REQUIEM Signed To Cleopatra Records

Congratulations are in order for Nagasaki Sound mastering client REQUIEM. Previously known as REQUIEM FOR THE DEAD until recently, The Santa Cruz-based metal band was just signed to the one and only CLEOPATRA RECORDS. Their forthcoming album The Unexplainable Truth was mastered by Steve Nagasaki a couple months ago, and we’ve been impatiently sitting on it ever since. OK, maybe not sitting on it. We may have put it on blast a few times and caused a ruckus or two. The album blends metalcore and punk with a pop sensibility, incorporating some great hooks and balancing out the more aggressive male vocals with a female counterpoint. Requiem’s head honcho and designer extraordinaire Steve Juliano told us he was working on something big for the album, and came through in spades. Nagasaki Sound…

EDM Mastering: M4SONIC ‘s “White Rabbit” Remix

Check out M4SONIC’s amazing rework of KALM KAOS “White Rabbit”. For the youngsters out there, White Rabbit was originally not an EDM song at all, but a classic rock track from 60’s superstars JEFFERSON AIRPLANE. KALM KAOS were commissioned by Beatport to write the 2014 theme song for the huge traveling EDM festival TOMORROWLAND. As the US leg of the tour was happening at the old Woodstock location, it made sense to update a track from one of the classic artists of the original festival. Part of a 3-track release, this huge electronic dance banger was mastered by Steve Nagasaki at Nagasaki Sound for IDT / Beatport. www.nagasakisound.com #EDM #mastering #masteringstudio

Aussie Hard Rockers LILLYÈ Go “Under” at Nagasaki

Big, powerful rock from Sydney’s LILLYÈ recently rocked the foundation at Nagasaki Sound. We mastered the Australian band’s new single “Under”, featuring some blazing female vocals from lead singer and namesake Virginia Lillye. Backing up her strong performance are Christian Lauria (Bass), Matt Ellis (Guitar), Andrew Lilley (Guitar), and Bennet Livingston (Drums). Christian is also an excellent mix engineer in his own right, but handed over the controls on this project to focus on the creative process. The band is currently finishing remaining mixes on their new album, which we hope to hear soon. LILLYÈ’s sound is big, driving, and determined. Gone Viral! Kids Cover Tool’s “46 and 2” and Kill It

Those little rockstars from Loveland Music Academy are at it again, and this time it’s gone viral in a big way.  The music students of Aaron O’Keefe have absolutely killed a cover of Tool’s hit alternative rock song “46 and 2”. The song was mastered here just 2 weeks ago and immediately posted to Aaron’s YouTube channel. Within only 1 week the video has over 750,000 views thanks to spotlights from popular blogs like Antiquiet, Bloody Disgusting, and Loudwire. As always, it’s a blast to be Aaron’s mastering engineer on these projects and everyone involved does their best to maintain the sound and vision of the original artists. Enough already – check out the video!
